Ethiopia – Sidama, Bensa (Murago) | Bekele Kachara | Natural, Grade 1 | 85 Points This single-producer natural lot comes from Bekele Kachara Loke in Murago, Bensa district, Eastern Sidama, Ethiopia. Bekele brings 45 years of coffee-growing experience and 10 years of experience in coffee export, farming four hectares planted to the Ethiopian selections 74158 and 74112, intercropped with haricot bean and enset. Farm management is documented and active, including composting, shade management, intercropping, weeding, de-suckering, planting of improved varietals, and an on-site seedling nursery. Processing is fully natural on the producer's own drying infrastructure. Cherry is floated and sorted to remove defects prior to drying. Dry storage is a 110 m² warehouse, with tin floor and wall construction, proper ventilation, coffee held above ground, and lots labelled within the warehouse. Cup quality is scored at 85 points. The profile is spice-forward and tea-like: clove-like and spicy aroma, sharp acidity, flavors of tea, lemon and warm spice with a distinct rue-spice note, medium body, and a short finish.
